Senior Lawyer - Contracts & Commercial to join their Legal Services team.

This is an opportunity for a qualified lawyer at

NQ level or above with experience in contracts, commercial law and, ideally, public sector procurement .

The Role

You will provide legal advice across a broad range of commercial and contractual matters, supporting the Council and its services with clear, practical and commercially focused advice.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Advising on a range of commercial contracts and agreements .
  • Providing legal advice on procurement matters and public sector contracting.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and associated documentation.
  • Advising internal stakeholders on contractual risks and obligations.
  • Supporting procurement exercises and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Working closely with Council departments and external stakeholders.
  • Managing a varied caseload and providing timely, practical legal advice.
  • Contributing to the wider development and delivery of the Council's Legal Services.

About You

I'm keen to hear from qualified Solicitors, Barristers or CILEX Lawyers who have experience in

Contracts & Commercial law , with procurement experience particularly desirable.

You will ideally have

  • NQ+ post-qualification experience.
  • Experience dealing with commercial contracts.
  • Knowledge or experience of public sector procurement .
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to provide clear and practical legal advice.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Local Authority or wider public sector experience is highly desirable.
