Role: Serious Injury Solicitor / Legal Executive
Location: Leighton Buzzard
Working Pattern: Office-based initially, with flexibility once established
Salary: £45,000 - £70,000 DOE
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Are you an experienced Personal Injury Solicitor or Legal Executive looking for something different from the usual high-volume PI environment?
CRA Consulting are working with a highly regarded specialist claimant Personal Injury practice in Leighton Buzzard, close to Milton Keynes, which is looking to strengthen its team with an experienced qualified lawyer.
The firm has seen a significant increase in work and has an immediate requirement for at least one additional Solicitor or Legal Executive.
This is a genuine opportunity to join a specialist litigation team dealing with high-quality work, where client care matters and lawyers are given manageable caseloads rather than simply being pushed towards volume.
Why this opportunity stands out
This is not a claims factory.
The firm deliberately keeps caseloads manageable so lawyers can properly investigate cases, meet clients, work with experts and deliver a high level of service.
Depending on experience, your caseload could include Intermediate Track, Multi-Track and Serious Injury claims worth from tens of thousands through to several million pounds.
You'll benefit from:
- High-quality claimant RTA and Serious Injury work
- An initial caseload of around 30-50 matters
- Dedicated administrative support
- Face-to-face client contact
- Exposure to complex negotiations
- Real involvement in litigation and advocacy
- A close-knit and highly experienced team
- Long-term progression and succession opportunities
The Role
You'll manage your own portfolio of claimant Personal Injury matters, with the mix of work tailored to your experience.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing Personal Injury and Serious Injury claims from instruction to settlement
- Handling Intermediate Track, Multi-Track and higher-value matters
- Investigating liability, causation and quantum
- Reviewing medical and expert evidence
- Instructing experts and Counsel
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements and schedules of loss
- Securing rehabilitation and interim payments where appropriate
- Negotiating settlements
- Attending client meetings
- Progressing litigation strategically and proactively
Client care is central to the firm's approach. Many clients have suffered life-changing injuries, and the expectation is that lawyers take real ownership of their cases and provide a genuinely personal service.
What we're looking for
The firm will consider qualified Solicitors and Chartered Legal Executives from newly qualified level through to candidates with significant PQE.
We're particularly keen to speak with people who have:
- Strong claimant Personal Injury experience
- Experience managing their own caseload
- Good litigation knowledge
- RTA experience
- Exposure to Multi-Track or Serious Injury claims
- Strong technical and negotiation skills
- A sound understanding of the CPR
- Excellent client care
- The ability to work with limited supervision
You do not need to arrive with a caseload made up entirely of catastrophic injury work.
A strong RTA or Personal Injury litigator who has progressed through Fast Track and Multi-Track work and wants to move into more complex claims could be very well suited.
Something a little different
The firm has strong links with the motorcycle community, which gives the practice a distinctive identity.
You do not need to already be a motorcyclist, but candidates should be open to understanding and engaging with this specialist client base.
For the right person, the firm is happy to support motorcycle training, including CBT/licence training and associated equipment.
The firm also gets involved in specialist motorcycle events, trips and media activity, making this a particularly interesting opportunity for anyone with an interest in the sector.
Culture and Working Environment
The team is close-knit, collaborative and technically strong.
Lawyers work in an open-plan environment where knowledge and litigation experience are shared naturally. The firm also undertakes a significant amount of its own advocacy rather than outsourcing everything to Counsel.
The working environment is relaxed and informal, but the standard of work is high.
The role will initially be predominantly office-based in Leighton Buzzard. Once established, there is scope for some home working.
The Package
- £45,000 - £70,000 basic salary DOE
- Potential alternative remuneration structure linked to fee generation
- 25 days' annual leave, increasing with service to 30 days
- Additional Christmas and New Year closure
- Employer pension contribution
- Free secure parking
- Dedicated administrative support
- Long-term career development
- Genuine future succession opportunities
