The Opportunity

CRA Consulting are working with a leading UK legal and insurance business looking to recruit an experienced RTA Claims Handler or Paralegal into its specialist Mobility Claims team in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience handling Road Traffic Accident personal injury claims who enjoys combining technical claims work with delivering a high standard of customer service. You will manage your own RTA caseload, including claims progressing through the Official Injury Claim (OIC) and Ministry of Justice (MOJ) portals. Depending on experience, this could include both litigated and non-litigated matters.

The Role

Joining an established Claims team within the wider Legal Services department, you will help customers progress their RTA claims efficiently and achieve fair outcomes. The role has a particular focus on claims involving mobility vehicles, with responsibility for files from instruction through to settlement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing your own RTA personal injury caseload
  • Handling OIC, MOJ and non-portal claims
  • Managing litigated and non-litigated matters depending on experience
  • Progressing claims from instruction to settlement
  • Reviewing liability, medical evidence, quantum and settlement proposals
  • Obtaining evidence required to progress claims
  • Liaising with customers, insurers and legal representatives
  • Explaining legal and technical information clearly to customers
  • Maintaining accurate case management records
  • Working towards agreed quality, service and performance standards
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and customer experience

This is a customer-focused position, so you will need to combine good technical RTA knowledge with excellent communication and client-care skills.

What Are They Looking For?

I am keen to speak with candidates currently working as an RTA Claims Handler, OIC/MOJ Claims Handler, RTA Paralegal, Personal Injury Fee Earner, RTA Litigator, Claims Negotiator or Litigation Executive. Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous RTA personal injury claims experience
  • Knowledge of the OIC and/or MOJ portal
  • Experience managing your own caseload
  • Understanding of liability, quantum and medical evidence
  • Strong communication and client-care skills
  • Good organisation and file-management abilities
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Experience working towards quality or performance targets

Litigation experience would be advantageous but isn't essential for every appointment. If you meet most, but not all, of the criteria, I would still be interested in speaking with you.

Salary & Benefits

The package is particularly strong and includes:

  • £25,000 - £32,000 salary DOE
  • 6% annual bonus opportunity
  • Employer pension contribution of up to 14%, depending on your contribution
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays
  • Option to buy or sell up to five days' holiday
  • Employer-funded private medical benefit
  • Up to 40% discount on company insurance products
  • Additional retailer discounts
  • Up to £1,200 of free shares annually through the Matching Share Plan
  • Save As You Earn share scheme
  • Three paid volunteering days each year
