Role: Employment Solicitor
Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire
Salary: £50,000 - £52,000
Contract: Full time, permanent, hybrid
We are seeking a 3-year PQE Employment Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join a highly regarded Employment Law team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer looking to further develop their career in claimant employment law within a supportive and well-established practice.
You will have the opportunity to manage your own varied caseload with a high degree of autonomy, working across both advisory and contentious matters. You will work closely with experienced colleagues while taking responsibility for delivering high-quality legal advice and achieving excellent outcomes for clients.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a claimant-focused employment law caseload with a high degree of autonomy, including:
- Settlement agreements
- Unfair dismissal claims
- Discrimination matters
- Equal pay disputes
- Contractual issues
- Redundancy and TUPE advice
- Employment Tribunal litigation
- Provide clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice to clients from initial enquiry through to resolution
- Conduct employment litigation, including managing Employment Tribunal claims and preparing cases for hearings
- Draft and review key legal documents, including pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements and other litigation documentation
- Develop and implement effective case strategies, exercising sound judgement and taking ownership of matters
- Manage client expectations, provide regular updates and ensure a high standard of client care throughout
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, transport, engineering, healthcare, education, public sector and commercial businesses
- Identify opportunities to develop client relationships and contribute to the growth of the Employment team
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support more junior members of the team where appropriate
- Contribute to the continued success and development of the wider Employment Law practice
About You
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with approximately 3 years' PQE in employment law
- Solid experience handling a claimant-focused employment caseload
- Strong experience across contentious employment matters, including Employment Tribunal litigation
- Good working knowledge of employment law and confidence applying it to complex and varied client matters
- Able to manage a caseload with a high degree of autonomy and prioritise competing demands effectively
- Excellent drafting, advocacy and legal research skills
- Strong communication and client care skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients
- Commercially aware and able to provide clear, pragmatic and solutions-focused advice
- Proactive, organised and confident in taking ownership of matters
- A genuine interest in claimant employment law and a desire to contribute to the continued growth of a successful Employment team
