We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager (Residential/ Insurance Repairs) to join our growing team. The full-time role (42.5 hours, Monday through Friday) is an exciting opportunity for the right person to drive safety excellence, foster a proactive safety culture, and deliver measurable improvements in workplace health, safety, quality and compliance.

CRA will provide the successful applicant with a Microsoft Surface and work from home setup, vehicle, and phone. Staff training is paid, and employees can access our funded Employee Assistance Program.

About You

This position plays a pivotal role in strengthening CRA’s operational performance through strategic risk reduction, continuous improvement, and empowering teams to embed HSEQ best practices at every level.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, solutions-oriented professional who enjoys creating environments where people feel safe, supported, and empowered and where governance and compliance are key. With proven experience in HSEQ leadership, you bring a strong understanding of legislation, risk management frameworks, and behavioural safety principles. You’ll not only be adept at identifying and mitigating risks, you’ll be passionate about building a safety and compliance culture that’s embedded across all levels of an organisation. You will be a trusted HSEQ leader through your proactive approach, clear communication, and commitment to best practice. Collaborative by nature, you partner confidently with operations teams and senior leaders alike to drive continuous improvement and deliver measurable outcomes.

The Role

This position, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, will work across the company and with external stakeholders to:

Lead the continual review, development, and improvement of CRA’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Management Systems, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001 standards.

Develop and implement HSEQ strategy aligned with legislative compliance and industry best practice.

Provide expert guidance on WHS legislation, risk management principles, and quality assurance, particularly in the construction sector.

Design, implement, and monitor internal compliance controls and audit programs to ensure adherence to regulatory, contractual, and certification obligations

Coach, mentor, and influence internal and external stakeholders to embed a proactive safety culture.

Coordinate hazard and incident reporting processes, ensuring timely investigations and implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.

Analyse HSEQ performance trends to inform targeted programs and initiatives that reduce risk and improve safety outcomes.

Oversee the creation and maintenance of risk assessments, safe work method statements (SWMS), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Support and coordinate workplace WHS practices, systems, and education programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Maintain accurate HSEQ records, dashboards, and documentation to support governance, compliance tracking, and audit readiness.

Perform ‘Return to Work’ coordinator responsibilities and support injury management processes.

Collaborate with project and operations teams to ensure quality standards are embedded into project planning, site operations, and contractor management.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to sustainability, modern slavery, and diversity compliance objectives across the business.

Key criteria

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a WHS/ HSEQ related discipline, supported by a minimum Cert IV in Work Health and Safety Management.

At least 5 years’ experience in a comparable leadership role, ideally within complex or multi-site operations.

Comprehensive knowledge of WHS/ HSEQ legislation and best-practice implementation across SA and VIC, with a strong compliance mindset.

Proven ability to lead cultural change and champion proactive safety practices—including psychosocial risk management and workplace mental health support.

Skilled in Return to Work coordination, injury management, and development of tailored health and recovery plans.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, underpinned by a methodical, innovative, and evidence-based approach.

Demonstrated capability in incident investigation, policy development, and WHS systems governance, including digital toolsets and analytics.

Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with a history of building positive relationships across frontline, operational, and executive teams.

Comfortable working across dynamic settings and supporting field and office-based personnel, with flexibility for occasional interstate travel.

Experience in the insurance repairs or construction industry.

Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 frameworks and processes.

A background in a trade or practical building knowledge.
