We have a new vacancy for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to be based primarily at our site in Shipley, Bradford with the ability to travel to other CMbE sites as needed. CMbE CarnaudMetalbox Engineering designs, develops, and manufactures high‑performance metal forming and finishing machinery for the production of beverage, food, and aerosol cans.
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve processes throughout operational areas, including designing new equipment, processes, procedures and systems.
- Purchase and oversee equipment installation.
- Work cross‑functionally with manufacturing, assembly, CI, maintenance and production engineering teams.
- Lead, support, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers, setting and reviewing objectives aligned with operational goals.
- Design and implement new systems, equipment, and processes to support product introduction from concept through full production.
- Support DfM/DfA activities, lead equipment reviews and tenders, liaise with suppliers and customers.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operations, promoting SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost).
- Develop and maintain PFMEA, manage budgets and performance data in collaboration with finance.
- Work closely with R&D to ensure products are ready for manufacture.
- Develop automated and manual systems, test processes, and champion change management.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
- Prior experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or a similar engineering role.
- Proven project management skills and excellent problem‑solving abilities.
- Collaboration and team‑oriented approach.
- Proficiency in CAD (2‑D and 3‑D), ideally AutoCAD and Siemens NX.
- Formal training in Six Sigma advantageous but not essential.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably discrete part manufacture and assembly.
- Keen interest in can‑making equipment advantageous.
