Senior Electrical Engineer in Baildon

Senior Electrical Engineer – Shipley. The role is based at CMbE CarnaudMetalbox Engineering’s Shipley site, with occasional travel to Wortley and globally as required.

The Senior Electrical Engineer designs electrical control systems that meet customer requirements, supports continuous improvement of existing products, and introduces new technologies. The Engineer takes ownership of projects from initial concept through to implementation, testing and handover into production. Working closely with the wider engineering team, the Engineer ensures smooth integration of new machinery and supports ongoing development of team capability across electrical design, software, testing and commissioning. The role incorporates hands‑on work and requires strong technical expertise and effective collaboration.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing and commissioning control systems for high‑speed production machinery.
• Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, particularly Rockwell and Siemens platforms, PLC and HMI programming.
• Proficiency in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD or EPLAN, with experience producing schematics, bills of materials and bespoke control solutions.
• Solid understanding of safety systems, servo drives, and automation principles.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills; experience working with customer specifications and providing technical support.
• Good communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Minimum qualification of an HND in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent; a BEng is desirable.
• Detail‑oriented, organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
