Business Development Manager to help drive the next phase of their commercial growth.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in helping organisations implement circular economy strategies, maximise the lifecycle of workplace assets and reduce waste through innovative, commercially viable solutions.

This is far more than a traditional sales role.

You'll be responsible for developing strategic partnerships with major organisations, identifying new commercial opportunities and influencing senior stakeholders, whilst also contributing to the ongoing development of the company's circular economy proposition.

Reporting directly to the Sales Director, this position offers significant autonomy, exposure to senior decision-makers and the opportunity to become a key contributor within a growing and highly respected business.

The Role

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities while nurturing long‑term relationships with existing clients and strategic partners.

Working across multiple sectors, you'll engage with organisations looking to improve their sustainability credentials by implementing circular economy solutions that deliver both commercial and environmental benefits.

You will work closely with senior leadership, project delivery teams and sustainability specialists to ensure opportunities are converted into successful projects while maintaining exceptional levels of customer service throughout the client journey.

Alongside driving revenue growth, you'll help shape future business strategy by identifying emerging market trends, developing new service opportunities and ensuring the business remains at the forefront of the circular economy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic business development plan to achieve agreed revenue and gross profit targets.
  • Identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities across a variety of sectors.
  • Build strong relationships with C‑suite executives, workplace leaders, procurement teams, estates professionals and sustainability stakeholders.
  • Develop strategic account plans for key clients and target organisations.
  • Promote the company's full range of circular economy and sustainable workplace solutions.
  • Deliver engaging presentations, proposals and workshops to prospective clients.
  • Lead commercial discussions from initial enquiry through to contract award.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery and an exceptional customer experience.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, becoming a trusted adviser throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to identify new markets, sectors and commercial opportunities.
  • Support major tenders, pitches and framework submissions.
  • Develop relationships with strategic partners and suppliers to strengthen the company's market offering.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting, pipeline management and CRM reporting.
  • Produce regular sales reports and participate in commercial review meetings.
  • Stay informed of industry developments, legislation and sustainability trends.
  • Attend networking events, exhibitions and industry conferences to promote the business.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance and develop the company's circular economy offering.
  • Champion sustainability principles internally and externally, ensuring they remain central to every client engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and health & safety requirements.

About You

Experience Required

  • Minimum of five years' business development experience within the furniture, workplace interiors, commercial fit‑out or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of workplace environments and commercial projects.
  • Previous exposure to circular economy, sustainability, asset lifecycle management or workplace reuse initiatives would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience within workplace change, relocation or moves management would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrable success in securing and growing high‑value commercial accounts.
  • Experience managing complex sales opportunities involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Exceptional relationship‑building skills with the ability to influence senior decision‑makers.
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking ability.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Confident negotiator with a consultative sales approach.
