We are currently working with a well-established Fit-Out and Set Building company based in Essex. They have got an increased amount of work coming up over the next few months and will be looking for freelance Carpenters to join them in their workshop, currently based near Chelmsford but moving to Maldon in the coming months. This role is workshop-based and hands-on, perfect for carpenters who enjoy practical fabrication and construction. You’ll be involved in building and assembling bespoke set pieces, interpreting technical drawings, and contributing to high-quality builds that are used across events, installations, and retail fit-outs. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work well within a team are key.
Skills and Requirements:
- General carpentry and workshop fabrication skills
- Ability to work from drawings and basic technical information
- Confident use of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of boxing-out and wrapping structures using timber, MDF, ply and sheet materials
- Experience forming clean edges, returns, and finishes suitable for set and display work
- Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Able to work efficiently to deadlines in a busy workshop
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working within a team
- Freelance availability to support upcoming projects
Essential:
- Must hold a valid UK driving licence
- Must own your own hand tools
- Must have at least 1 years experience as a Carpenter
- Must be able to work weekdays and potentially overtime on weekends
- Must be able to provide proof of right to work in the UK
Rate: £200 - £250 per day DOE
