Day Rate: £260 - £280
A leading main contractor with an annual turnover of approximately £80m is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to support a national programme of small to medium distribution centre refurbishments valued at around £35m. These schemes range from £1.2m to £4.4m and are being delivered for a globally recognised brand. The immediate requirement is for a medium-sized distribution facility undergoing a full internal refurbishment, installation of a mezzanine floor, and associated external works. This role is hands-on and demands strong leadership, excellent organisational ability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results within programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day site operations throughout the 24-week programme.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site teams to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Track progress against programme milestones and provide regular updates to the project team.
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and company procedures.
- Manage quality control processes and proactively resolve any issues arising during construction and fit-out activities.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment and fit-out projects.
- Background in managing distribution centres, warehouses, or similar industrial facilities (highly advantageous).
- Strong understanding of construction methodology, health & safety, and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and drive the project to successful completion.
- Availability for the full 24-week freelance/contract period.
