Freelance Site Manager - MOJ Office Fit-Out

Location: Reading, Berkshire Contract: Freelance Duration: Approximately 9 months Start: End of September Project: MOJ office fit-out

A multi award-winning main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Site Manager for a nine-month office fit-out project for the Ministry of Justice in Reading.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the site, ensuring the project is delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing daily site operations from commencement through to completion
  • Coordinating subcontractors, trades, deliveries and site logistics
  • Monitoring the construction programme and driving works to agreed deadlines
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
  • Carrying out site inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings
  • Completing site inspections, quality checks and progress reports
  • Managing snagging, commissioning and handover activities
  • Chairing subcontractor and progress meetings
  • Liaising with the client, project team, consultants and supply chain
  • Maintaining accurate site records and project documentation
  • Ensuring work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and relevant regulations
  • Managing operations appropriately within a secure MOJ working environment

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous MOJ, Office fit out works would be an advantage
  • Valid SMSTS
  • Appropriate CSCS Management Card, ideally a Black Manager Card
  • Valid First Aid at Work
  • Proven experience delivering commercial office fit-out projects
  • Previous experience working for a main contractor
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and site procedures
  • Excellent subcontractor-management and programme-management skills
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational abilities
  • Competent with site reporting and standard construction software
  • Ability to provide satisfactory references
