Role Overview
The role is based in Loughborough, UK. As a Degree Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, you will work alongside experienced professionals, supporting the commercial management of construction projects from start to finish. You will gain practical experience while developing the technical knowledge needed to build a successful career. You will work in a supported learning environment to develop all the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to become a successful Quantity Surveyor and complete a Chartered Surveyor, Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship (Quantity Surveyor Pathway) BSc (Hons).
Key Responsibilities
- Understand the role and main requirements of a Quantity Surveyor.
- Learn about key contract items that pose commercial risk to a project and develop knowledge of the construction contracts we implement on projects (NEC4 / JCT etc).
- Support the assigned Quantity Surveyor on a project, including handling both upstream and downstream contractual correspondence.
- Issue contract notices in accordance with contracted terms and conditions (i.e. Variations, Compensation Events and Early Warnings).
- Assist site and commercial teams in obtaining site measures monthly for application submissions and prepare/review site records daily.
- Support commercial teams with cost reporting, weekly/monthly.
- Undertake take‑offs of updated drawings and specifications.
- Assist in client monthly commercial/progress meetings, taking minutes and reporting commercial position, and working with the operations teams within internal meetings.
- This role is site and office‑based; travel for educational purposes may also be required.
- Work independently to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Essential Criteria
- 120 UCAS Tariff points from three A‑levels or equivalent qualifications; and GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above).
- Full UK Driving License.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Good communication skills.
- Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Availability to travel and lodge out if required.
- Work independently and use initiative.
