Responsible for ensuring plant and equipment maintenance is carried out to meet manufacturers' recommended guidelines and achieve maximum efficiency and utilisation of owned operational equipment. The role includes mixed site and yard work, with most days travelling and occasional overnight stays.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety laws and regulations.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance of all company‑owned plant and equipment, both in the yard workshops and on site.
- Perform PUWER inspections and other required safety checks.
- Work safely, obeying all site rules and protecting safety of self and others.
- Maintain adequate stock levels for maintenance and repair in the van.
- Carry out inspections such as PDI checks and PUWER inspections for all plant and equipment.
- Analyse trends to minimise wastage and inefficiencies and recommend replacements or renewals to management.
- Report to the plant manager or supervisor on cost improvements and other matters with recommendations.
- Produce all necessary reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support site management teams with reactive repairs to plant and equipment on site.
- Work as part of a team of plant engineers and apprentices.
Key Requirements/Qualifications
- Full knowledge and experience in the maintenance and repair of construction plant and equipment.
- Qualified to at least NVQ Level 2.
- Health and safety awareness.
- Systems management experience.
