We are looking to recruit apprentice groundworkers to join our teams in locations based in South Yorkshire and East Midlands. We also have a vacancy in our South team where there will be a requirement for the right candidate to work away from home Monday-Friday, and occasionally weekend work. This comes with subsistence allowances and ideally, candidates being based in West Wales (preferably Carmarthenshire).
The Role:
- You will work in a supported learning environment to develop all the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to become a successful Groundworker Apprentice and complete a Level 2 Apprenticeship, this may include Level 2 Functional skills in English and Maths if required.
- You will learn about the maintenance and repair of highways, roads, pavements.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out all types of labouring/groundworks to the required specification, standard and timescale, as directed by an allocated Ganger/Foreman.
- Arrive on time and maintain good attendance.
- Follow workplace rules, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Communicate respectfully/professionally with personnel on site.
- Develop skills undertaking various trades such as kerbing, paving, drainage, and associated groundworks.
- Maintain accurate logs of training hours, tasks completed, photos and skills acquired for portfolio of college work.
- Learn how to safely work around stats and services when undertaking groundworks.
- Work effectively with colleagues, customers, and suppliers, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism, workmanship, and punctuality.
- Attend college as required and succeed in passing the apprenticeship.
- Support all tasks on site as directed by the Site Manager and your Ganger.
- Maintain necessary Health and Safety regulations and adhere to method statements and risk assessments.
- Attend performance reviews and accept constructive feedback.
- Work on areas of improvement highlighted during assessments.
- Within a safe environment, learn how to operate plant and equipment as required.
Essential Requirements:
- Full UK Driving License with own transport to get to and from site.
- Must be 18+.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Good verbal and written skills.
- Willingness to undertake training and development.
- Availability to travel and lodge away between Monday and Friday.
Desirable Criteria:
- GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade 4).
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths (Grade 4).
