Public Health Engineer - Building Services in Solihull

GRADUATE PUBLIC HEALTH ENGINEER We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Public Health Engineer to join us at CPW, based at our Solihull office.This is a permanent full-time position working 36.25 hours per week under our agile framework. We are passionate and experienced mechanical, electrical and low-carbon engineers who enjoy bringing buildings to life in ways that are better for the world. We’re a friendly team intent on bringing sustainability to the building services industry through design. Our clients span a wide range of sectors, including: healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, zero carbon and public sector. Through the application of research-led design, innovation, and sustainable methodologies we can create tailored solutions that meet the needs of our clients, whilst also being positive for the environment and delivering on net-zero carbon. With over 400 staff across 12 office locations, we run an international operation spanning the UK, Poland and India. Work on a variety of interesting projects across a range of sectors, gaining exposure to different building types and client requirements. Support the delivery of projects through all stages, from initial concept through to completion. Work collaboratively with experienced engineers and wider design teams to achieve project goals. Undertake design calculations using both manual methods and industry-standard software, with guidance from senior engineers where required. Develop an understanding of project delivery, ensuring work is completed to the required quality standards and within agreed programme timescales. Liaise with colleagues across different disciplines to understand client requirements and help develop effective design solutions. Build technical knowledge in public health engineering design and systems coordination. Attend project and design team meetings, representing the Public Health team with support from senior colleagues. Develop an understanding of sustainability principles and the implementation of low and zero carbon (LZC) technologies. Support site visits and inspections to gain practical experience of installations and compliance with design intent. Participate in Continued Professional Development (CPD) activities and stay informed about emerging technologies and industry developments. Develop an appreciation of other engineering disciplines and how they integrate within building services design. You will become an integral part of our Public Health team, working alongside experienced engineers who will support your professional development. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline (or HNC/HND with relevant experience). A genuine interest in Public Health and Building Services Engineering. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Relevant work experience through placements, internships, year-in-industry programmes, summer work or graduate employment. Basic understanding of above ground drainage systems and public health design principles. Familiarity with design software such as Revit, AutoCAD and other building services engineering tools. Awareness of British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance. Exposure to healthcare, residential, retail or commercial building projects through academic studies or work experience.
