Job Overview

The Tritium Removal Facility (TRF) at Darlington Nuclear Generating Station upgrades the D2O and removes tritium from the Moderator and Main Heat Transport System. The extracted tritium is sold for various industrial applications, including exit signs, and upon decay, it is sold as Helium-3 for many applications, including fusion reactors.

The System Responsible Engineer (SRE) is required to support TRF during the Major Component Replacement Projects. As an SRE, the individual is responsible for the day-to-day field priorities, system walk-downs, system health, long-term spares, systematic troubleshooting, identification of parts, supporting work planning processes, outage planning and execution support, preventive maintenance program support, bridging and mitigating strategy, and long-term projects. Clear communication, integrity, accountability, technical competency, and continuous learning are essential. The expectation is to demonstrate ownership of the system.

Qualifications

  • Engineering bachelor's degree is required; Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Professional engineering license is an advantage.
  • Previous TRF experience is prioritized; lack of TRF experience will lead to preference for candidates with chemical plant or gas plant experience.
  • Past System Responsible Engineer experience is beneficial.
  • Project Management experience is an asset but not a requirement.
