We're looking for an experienced Mainframe Operations Engineer with hands-on Unisys mainframe and OpCon experience to support and enhance critical business and payment systems within a highly regulated environment. You'll play a key role in maintaining the availability, stability and performance of business-critical platforms, leading major incident resolution, driving automation and supporting continuous operational improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the resolution of major incidents, coordinating technical recovery and stakeholder communications.
- Provide 3rd-line support for complex operational issues, driving root cause analysis and permanent resolution.
- Improve platform reliability through monitoring, automation, operational tooling and job scheduling.
- Administer Windows-based systems and SQL Server environments, ensuring performance, resilience and recoverability.
- Lead system changes, releases and disaster recovery testing.
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Development, Security and third-party suppliers to deliver operational excellence.
- Champion ITIL best practices and continual service improvement.
- Mentor colleagues and help develop technical capability across the team.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience supporting Unisys mainframe environments.
- Hands-on experience with OpCon or a comparable enterprise job scheduling platform.
- Strong background in IT Operations, Production Support or Mainframe Operations.
- SQL Server administration, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Windows Server, PowerShell, SFTP and Azure DevOps experience.
- Good understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes within regulated environments.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
