Security Clearance: SC cleared or eligible
CPS Group are working with a global IT consultancy who are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Server DBA to primarily support with a key public sector client.
This is an opportunity to work within a large, business-critical Microsoft environment, supporting SQL Server platforms across development, test and production.
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation you will be in the Cardiff office 1-2 times a week.
The Role
- Manage and support SQL Server databases across multiple environments.
- Monitor and optimise database performance, including query tuning and indexing.
- Manage backups, restores, recovery and HA/DR solutions including Always On.
- Support database security, access controls, auditing and encryption.
- Work with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
- Automate administration and maintenance using PowerShell.
- Support production issues, deployments and database changes.
- Work closely with development and infrastructure teams, acting as a senior technical escalation point.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience as a SQL Server DBA.
- Excellent SQL Server administration and performance tuning experience.
- Experience with Always On / HA/DR, backups and recovery.
- Knowledge of SQL Server security and encryption.
- Experience with Azure SQL.
- PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
- Knowledge of Windows Server / Active Directory.
- Experience of DevOps / CI-CD or Infrastructure as Code would be advantageous.
- SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance.
