CPS Group are working with a leading financial services organisation seeking an

IT Operations Engineer to join their IT Operations team.

The Role

As an IT Operations Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the stability, availability and performance of critical banking and payment systems.

You'll act as a senior technical escalation point, lead major incident response and help shape the future of operational tooling and automation.

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading technical response during major incidents and coordinating service recovery.
  • Providing expert 3rd line support for complex operational issues.
  • Maintaining and improving platform monitoring, automation and job scheduling.
  • Supporting system administration, performance tuning, resilience and disaster recovery.
  • Managing complex system changes and releases.
  • Working closely with Infrastructure, Development, Security and third-party suppliers.
  • Driving continual service improvement and promoting ITIL best practices.
  • Mentoring colleagues and helping develop technical capability across the team.

You’ll ideally have experience with

  • Unisys mainframe environments (highly desirable).
  • Op Con job scheduling or another enterprise scheduling platform.
  • SQL Server administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  • Power Shell scripting.
  • SFTP.
  • ITIL / ITSM practices.
  • Major Incident Management within a production support environment.
  • Automation and operational improvement initiatives
