Job Summary
The purpose of the role is to act as a strong and empathetic leader to the Finance team, and valued business partner to the SpecTec Management Team, offering insight and facilitating strong, evidence‑based decision‑making to enable the business to meet its growth and profitability objectives.
Responsibilities
In the role of Head of Finance, you will:
- Business partner with the SpecTec Shipping Management team, including:
- Oversee the reporting of financial performance against targets.
- Provide finance business partnering to the CEO and Management Team, subject matter expertise and strategic advice to drive improvements in this performance.
- Coordinate the contract and commercial account reviews to drive growth and profitability improvements.
- Ensure the alignment of the VBU’s financial targets to the Group’s financial targets.
- Coordinate / oversee the quarterly business review process.
- Contribute to the development of the SpecTec Shipping strategic plan, model the impact of strategy in the short, medium and long‑term and facilitate course corrections where necessary.
- Oversee the SpecTec Shipping Finance Team, including:
- Provide support, direction, guidance and mentorship to direct reports and the wider finance team.
- Provide subject matter expertise to the finance team.
- Maintain financial control for the SpecTec Shipping business through:
- Ensure statutory and tax compliance requirements are met for all legal entities.
- Oversee financial risk management, including balance sheet integrity for all entities and ensuring all material risks and opportunities are visible to the VBU and Group Leadership.
- Oversee the external audit process for all entities, ensuring all accounts are filed on‑time with unqualified opinions.
- Oversee / facilitate internal audit and drive improvements and compliance in line with feedback received.
- Drive commercial awareness and facilitate strong decision‑making through:
- Creating and maintaining robust finance models for sales opportunities, business forecasting and ad‑hoc business cases as required.
- Supporting and challenging stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Providing training to both finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
