At CPRE London we are passionate about promoting the importance and benefits of the countryside and our green spaces. We are looking for a content editor/writer volunteer who shares our passion for environmental issues and would love to get involved in bringing what we do to a wider audience, through new written content, maximising the use of social media channels and our website. Our volunteer will play an essential role in spreading the word about our work by highlighting the vital environmental and campaigning work we do and raising the profile of CPRE in a positive way.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Writing compelling copy which raises the profile of CPRE London and its work
- Proofreading, restructuring and editing articles
- Updating the CPRE London website with new content
- Working with the social media volunteer to promote new content
- Optimising published pieces for SEO
- Working with the volunteer web developer, monitoring web traffic and user engagement
- Creating and sending our monthly newsletter
- Working with the director and trustees, helping draft the annual report, trustee updates, updates for funding bodies and other reporting as required
- Maintaining and adding to the image library
- Overseeing overall content in line with brand guidelines
Our friendly team will provide you with training and support to develop in your role as you use your skills and experience in copywriting and use of social media to enhance the diverse work of CPRE in London.
Working hours: 7-14 hours per week
Working pattern: delivery can be flexible, but availability on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays (the Director’s working days) would be beneficial.
Location: Hybrid - with weekly office attendance on one of the above days. We provide out-of-pocket travel expenses should this be required.
By producing informative, engaging and creative articles and stories, for a variety of communications such as website, social media and newsletters, you’ll play a key role in raising our profile, bringing our work to a wider audience and attracting new supporters. We want to hear from people interested in seeking out and generating appealing stories, combining this with their interest in environmental and countryside issues, to create coverage for CPRE on a range of topics.
What you will be doing:
- Using your creative flair to help us drive our forward-looking content creation plans
- Developing a balanced range of new content which may include current news, opinion pieces and campaign features for our communications
- Suggesting and creating content to encourage members, volunteers, donors and the general public to engage with our activities
- Using photos and images to good visual effect and to represent the full range of our work and the people involved in it
- Liaising with the national CPRE communications and website team and our local charity staff and volunteers for support and guidance and to ensure we are effectively promoting our content
