A local authority is seeking an experienced Senior Town Planning Officer to support the preparation, delivery and implementation of the District's Local Plan and wider strategic planning priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and contribute to Local Plan documents, SPDs, Neighbourhood Plans and planning policy projects.
- Lead on key policy areas including housing, employment, retail and environment.
- Provide planning policy advice on development proposals, sustainability and planning obligations.
- Prepare evidence and represent the Council at Examinations, Inquiries, Hearings and Appeals where required.
- Monitor planning performance, legislation and policy changes, maintaining data and reporting systems.
- Produce reports and briefings for committees, senior management and stakeholders.
- Work with internal teams, regional partners and external organisations to support strategic planning objectives.
Requirements:
- Strong experience in planning policy / Local Plan preparation.
- Good knowledge of UK planning legislation and policy.
- Experience within a local authority planning environment.
- Excellent communication, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
- GIS/data management experience desirable.
