A South London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Interim Disrepair Surveyor to join a busy, high-profile Disrepair Team. Reporting to the Disrepair Manager, you will take ownership of disrepair cases from inspection through to completion, ensuring works are delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake property inspections to diagnose disrepair issues and specify remedial works
- Raise works orders and manage contractors through to completion
- Carry out pre-inspections, work-in-progress inspections, and post-completion checks
- Project manage disrepair works, ensuring delivery within agreed timescales and budgets
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure quality standards are met
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations
- Act as a key point of contact for tenants, providing clear communication and support throughout works
- Coordinate and oversee temporary decants where required
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including Legal and Tenancy teams
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in property maintenance or building surveying
- Strong technical knowledge of building defects and repairs
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation within property maintenance
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organisational and project management abilities
- Commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets effectively
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Previous experience in disrepair (training can be provided)
- Experience within the Social Housing sector
- Background in managing major repairs or planned works
