An Interim Accountancy Technician is required to join the Place Finance team on a hybrid contract basis. This role will support services including Libraries and Housing, working closely with the Finance Business Partner on budget setting, in-year monitoring, and closure of accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation and maintenance of capital and revenue budgets
  • Provide finance support and advice to operational managers
  • Assist with budget monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Support the annual closure of accounts process
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and financial procedures

Requirements:

  • Experience providing finance support to managers is essential
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial procedures, and audit principles
  • Good experience using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
  • AAT qualification desirable
  • Local authority or public sector finance experience is advantageous
