Salary: £32,000 – £40,000 DOE

THE OPPORTUNITY

CPXR is recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join an established Civil Engineering and Groundworks contractor based in East Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for an AQS with some practical Civils, Groundworks or Infrastructure experience who is looking to develop their career and take on greater commercial responsibility. Working alongside an experienced Quantity Surveyor, you will initially operate as a number two before progressing towards becoming increasingly self-managing across one or two live projects. The role offers a good mix of office and site-based working, with projects located across Kent.

THE ROLE

  • Support the commercial management of live Civil Engineering and Groundworks projects
  • Assist with valuations and applications for payment
  • Identify, price and manage variations
  • Support subcontractor and supplier procurement
  • Monitor project costs, budgets and commercial performance
  • Assist with cost reporting, CVRs and subcontractor accounts

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Trainee Quantity Surveyor
  • Practical experience within Civil Engineering, Groundworks, Infrastructure or a related construction sector
  • Good understanding of valuations, variations, procurement and cost management
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification, or currently working towards one
  • Strong communication, numerical and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence and comfortable travelling to sites across Kent

Graduates completing their studies this year or next year may also be considered, providing they have gained meaningful practical construction or Quantity Surveying experience alongside their studies.
