Our client is a leading UK contractor with projects nationwide, currently seeking an Estimator to join their team in Cannock. Working across a diverse portfolio, the role will involve pricing and estimating for a range of projects, with a strong focus on industrial refurbishments, alongside school refurbishment schemes and office fit-out works.
Key responsibilities:
- Preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for a range of refurbishment and fit-out projects
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents to assess project requirements
- Producing detailed take-offs and pricing for labour, materials, plant and subcontract packages
- Obtaining and evaluating quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Identifying project risks, value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams throughout the tender process
- Assisting with bid preparation, programmes and technical submissions
- Maintaining strong commercial awareness of market rates and industry trends
- Supporting handovers to the delivery and commercial teams following successful tenders
- Ensuring all estimates are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines
Relevant experience required for this role:
- Highly proficient in all IT packages
- Mathematical ability
- Ability to time-manage work loads to achieve deadlines
- Complete understanding of subcontracting and procurement strategies
- Proven experience as an Estimator
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related construction discipline desirable, but not essential for candidates with relevant estimating experience
