We are seeking a versatile and talented Lead Artist to join our team. You will lead the charge in owning the weapon / hard surface pipeline and managing the prop and character team on Eve Vanguard, an MMO FPS set in the same universe of EVE Online.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate superb artistic ability and technical understanding of real-time hard surface / weapon modelling and texturing within a game development team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that is shaping the visual identity of EVE Vanguard's combat experience delivering iconic weapons and gear that feel both powerful and immersive.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Art Director, and other Lead artists to support the project's vision.
- Work closely with the Design team to understand the functionality and intention of all weapons and deployables.
- Lead other artists to ensure consistency is kept throughout the game.
- Own the weapon and prop pipeline by defining best practices and workflows for hard surface asset creation, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire other artists to maintain artistic consistency and quality across the game.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and workflows, continually improving processes and technology used in asset creation.
- Ensure that assets adhere to technical constraints and performance targets while maintaining a high visual standard.
- Proven experience at a Lead level in the video game industry.
- Exceptional modelling and texturing skills with a strong focus on sci-fi weapon and hard surface design.
- Strong understanding of PBR workflows and best practices for real-time rendering.
- Good understanding of what makes a weapon feel impactful and satisfying.
- Experience working with a variety of art disciplines.
- Leadership, communication and time-management skills with experience in mentoring and guiding teams.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software.
- Unreal Engine 4 or 5 experience.
- Experience working on shaders, skins and weapon customisation.
- Familiarity with rigging & animation pipeline for an FPS.
- A passion for the sci-fi genre.
