Design & Engineering

CPP has the largest in-house design and engineering team of any contractor in Australia, with over 170 specialists across Electrical Primary and Secondary, Civil, Structural, and SCADA disciplines. We provide end-to-end engineering solutions for high-voltage infrastructure, including nationally significant transmission projects, HV substations, wind farms and battery storage systems that drive Australia’s renewable energy transition. Our engineers work closely with construction and operations teams, ensuring designs are practical, constructible, and continually refined through real-world feedback. The Opportunity

Step into a career-defining role as Manager - Secondary Design at CPP Victoria, where you will play a key role in delivering high-voltage substation projects that support the growth of Australia’s renewable energy and utility sectors. We are seeking an experienced engineer to build and lead CPP’s newly created Victorian Secondary Engineering and Design team. As Manager - Secondary Design, you will oversee the secondary design of high-voltage substations including secondary design, SCADA and protection. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow a team of engineers and drafters, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a similar senior engineering role, a deep understanding of secondary design principles, and strong leadership capabilities. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Engineering leadership team at an industry-leading organisation. Skills And Experiences About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Chartered status and BLA (or the ability to achieve upon commencement)
  • 10+ years’ experience at a senior level, including substation design and/or utility grid connections
  • Proven experience in secondary design and engineering, with knowledge of SCADA and protection
  • Excellent leadership skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing, collaborative teams
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and client requirements
  • Experience with renewable grid connection projects in Australia
  • Based in Victoria or willing to relocate (relocation assistance available)
