CPM Engineering is now looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and hands-on Electro Mechanical Bench Fitter to join our growing Manchester team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical engineering, fault-finding and mechanical repair, and who wants to develop their skills and build a long-term career within a successful engineering business.

As an Electromechanical Bench Fitter, you will carry out a wide range of hands-on repair and refurbishment of rotating electro-mechanical assets. You will be involved in diagnosing faults, dismantling and inspecting equipment, measuring component wear, repairing or replacing components and accurately reassembling machinery. The role offers excellent variety, with work carried out both within our Manchester workshop and occasionally at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities of the Electro Mechanical Bench Fitter role:

  • Electro-mechanical repair and refurbishment work both within the workshop and on customer sites
  • Diagnose and identify mechanical and electro-mechanical faults
  • Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble equipment
  • Measure component wear using micrometers, verniers, calipers and other measuring equipment
  • Remove and fit precision components and work accurately to limits, fits and tolerances
  • Carry out general bench fitting and mechanical fitting duties
  • Repair and refurbish rotating machinery like electric motors, pumps and gearboxes
  • Identify worn or damaged components and determine appropriate repair or replacement
  • Ensure completed work meets required quality and engineering standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised working environment and work as part of the wider team

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in an Electro Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Fitter / Bench Fitter role
  • Strong practical bench fitting skills
  • Experience dismantling, inspecting and repairing mechanical equipment
  • Experience with rotating machinery, electric motors, pumps and/or gearboxes
  • Good understanding of mechanical assembly and dismantling techniques
  • Experience using micrometers, verniers, calipers and other measuring equipment
  • Understanding of limits, fits and tolerances
  • Good attention to detail, a commitment to quality & practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and a willingness to undertake occasional site work
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including overtime where required
  • A full driving licence
