CP1 Partners is representing a Singapore-headquartered contract manufacturer and supplier of high-precision cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and electromechanical integration solutions for global customers operating in highly regulated and technology-driven industries such as Medical Devices, Automotive, Industrial Equipment, and Advanced Electronics.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced commercial leader with a strong background in cable assemblies, wire harnessing, Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), contract manufacturing, or adjacent technical manufacturing industries.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Business Development Director will play a pivotal role in shaping its next phase of growth by developing new business opportunities, expanding strategic customer relationships, and driving long‑term revenue generation across key industry sectors.

Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Executive Leadership, you will lead solution‑based sales engagements with multinational customers while helping define the company's long‑term commercial strategy.

This role offers significant visibility across the organisation and provides the opportunity to influence strategic initiatives, regional expansion, and future market development.

The successful candidate will combine strong commercial acumen with technical credibility, strategic thinking, and exceptional relationship‑building capabilities to drive sustainable business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Commercial Strategy & Business Development
  • Develop and execute CMTI's commercial growth strategy across Medical Devices, Automotive, Industrial Equipment, Advanced Electronics, and other targeted market segments.
  • Identify, develop, and secure new customer relationships with multinational OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and strategic manufacturing partners.
  • Build a robust sales pipeline focused on long‑term, high‑value manufacturing programmes and recurring revenue opportunities.
  • Develop account penetration strategies that expand CMTI's presence within existing customers while opening new strategic accounts.
  • Evaluate emerging markets, technologies, and industry trends to identify future growth opportunities.
  • Customer Engagement & Solution Selling
  • Lead consultative, solution‑based sales engagements by working closely with Engineering and Operations teams to develop tailored manufacturing solutions.
  • Understand customer product development roadmaps, technical requirements, and manufacturing challenges to position CMTI as a long‑term strategic partner.
  • Build trusted relationships across Procurement, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Program Management, and Executive Leadership within customer organisations.
  • Represent CMTI during customer visits, technical reviews, manufacturing audits, and executive business discussions.
  • Deliver compelling commercial proposals that demonstrate CMTI's engineering capabilities, quality systems, and manufacturing expertise.
  • Commercial Leadership
  • Own the end‑to‑end commercial process from opportunity identification through quotation, negotiation, contract execution, and successful programme launch.
  • Lead pricing strategies, commercial negotiations, and contract discussions to achieve mutually beneficial long‑term partnerships.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reporting, and revenue projections aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Monitor business performance against sales targets and implement strategies to accelerate growth where required.
  • Drive disciplined opportunity management throughout the entire sales lifecycle.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Programme Management teams to ensure customer requirements are translated into successful manufacturing programmes.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on strategic initiatives including regional expansion, new product offerings, strategic partnerships, and market diversification.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by incorporating customer feedback into operational and product development activities.
  • Champion a customer‑centric culture across the organisation.
  • Market Intelligence & Industry Representation
  • Monitor competitor activities, market developments, customer trends, and emerging technologies within the cable assembly and electromechanical manufacturing sectors.
  • Represent CMTI at international trade exhibitions, industry conferences, customer forums, and networking events.
  • Develop strong market intelligence to support strategic decision‑making and business planning.
  • Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.

Minimum 10–15 years of experience in Business Development, Key Account Management.

  • Commercial Leadership, or Strategic Sales within Cable Assemblies, Wire Harnessing, Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), Contract Manufacturing, Medical Devices, Automotive Components, or related technical manufacturing industries.
  • Demonstrated success in winning, developing, and growing multinational OEM accounts and long‑term manufacturing programmes.
  • Strong understanding of cable assembly manufacturing processes, electromechanical integration, engineering principles, quality systems, and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience selling technically complex manufacturing solutions to engineering‑driven organisations.
  • Experience working across global customer organisations and multicultural business environments would be highly advantageous.
