An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to lead and deliver a range of building structures projects within a consultancy environment. This role combines hands-on design responsibility with full project management ownership, client engagement, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design of projects across a range of building types and materials
  • Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and structural models
  • Check designs and drawings for accuracy, compliance, and quality, recommending improvements where required
  • Manage and coordinate project resources in collaboration with senior engineering leadership
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and other consultants
  • Attend and contribute to project and design team meetings
  • Deliver projects in line with agreed timescales, budgets, and scope
  • Identify project risks and challenges, implementing mitigation measures and escalating issues where necessary
  • Prepare monthly project workload updates, fee forecasts, and financial reports
  • Monitor and control project costs and support preparation of project invoicing
  • Conduct site inspections and liaise with relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality systems, health & safety requirements, and statutory regulations
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, graduates, and technicians
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship growth
  • Maintain accurate project documentation in line with management systems

Requirements

  • Chartered Structural Engineer
  • BEng in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience in a similar consultancy environment
  • Proven experience designing with all common building materials
  • Strong knowledge of current design codes and regulations
  • Experience carrying out structural assessments of existing buildings
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Full driving licence or suitable access to transport to meet role requirements
