This is an exciting opportunity to join a small UK-based team while collaborating closely with a global group. The successful candidate will also join the board of the corporate trustee for the new SIPP scheme and play a central role in its oversight, compliance, and governance, always acting in the best interests of scheme members.
The ideal candidate will have strong market knowledge of pension products and extensive expertise in SIPP operations, including trustee management, contributions, relief at source, reporting, due diligence, transfers, and processes related to both the accumulation and decumulation phases of pension schemes.
This position operates on a hybrid working model, with a London office base.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as director of the corporate trustee, exercising trustee powers in line with the trust deed and rules.
- Contribute expert input on SIPP matters at governance meetings.
- Support the business launch by establishing and maintaining processes to manage SIPP operations throughout the full lifecycle (accumulation and decumulation).
- Foster positive outcomes for members by developing a SIPP-specific consumer duty dashboard.
- Monitor and report on compliance with all relevant legislation, regulation, and guidance. Develop and maintain reports, controls, and processes to identify and address areas for improvement.
- Ensure correct administration of the scheme, meeting all key performance indicators, service standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Oversee member communications and ensure timely, accurate reporting to HMRC and other relevant bodies.
- Manage the financial health of the scheme, including oversight of automated and manual processes for asset and cash transfers.
- Establish and maintain systems and controls for retirement benefit calculations, including drawdown and crystallisation.
- Identify operational trends and issues, prepare business requirements, and manage implementation projects.
- Lead training and development for staff impacted by SIPP operations, ensuring expertise remains up to date.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties related to SIPP administration and oversight.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Industry-recognised qualifications in pensions/SIPPs and accounting (preferred).
- At least 10 years of experience in the SIPP or pensions services industry.
- Significant expertise in pension tax and investment operations, including drawdown calculations and compliance with relevant reporting requirements (e.g., PCL, UFPLS, FAD, PRAS, SIPPCOM100, ISA10, JISA/ISA, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other common business technologies.
