Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Solaris Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a critical infrastructure project. The role involves working on a remote basis, with occasional coordination with the on-site team. This is a hands-on technical role focused on Solaris environments, migrations, and server configuration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform bare-metal builds for Oracle SPARC T8-2 servers (2x at Primary site, 1x at Secondary site)
- Configure Control Domains (LDOMs)
- Integrate and configure SAN storage presented to physical hosts
- Set up networking and build new Oracle VM environments (OVMs) to receive migrated workloads
- Execute Flar-based P2V (Physical to Virtual) migrations using Solaris tools
- Manage Solaris 9 & 10 containers, including networking and storage configurations
- Leverage ldm tools for workload migration and environment replication
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Deep expertise in Solaris OS (Solaris 9, 10, and later)
- Proven experience with Oracle VM for SPARC (OVM, LDOMs)
- Strong understanding of SAN storage configuration and integration
- Experience performing Flar-based P2V migrations
- Proficiency in setting up and managing Solaris containers
- Skilled in configuring network and storage components in enterprise Solaris environments
- Active UK Security Clearance is mandatory
