An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Control Centre Manager to lead real-time operations within a critical infrastructure environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, secure and reliable operation of a complex network in a fast-paced, safety-critical setting. The successful candidate will act as a key escalation point for operational issues, providing technical leadership and supporting effective decision-making. Working as part of a high-performing team, you will coordinate operational activities, engage with key stakeholders and drive continuous improvement across control centre functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day Control Centre operations, acting as the first point of escalation
  • Monitor real-time system performance including demand, generation and capacity margins
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety policies and security standards
  • Support incident management and investigations where required
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Represent the organisation in operational, regulatory and industry forums
  • Support and deliver control centre simulation and training exercises
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing operational team
  • Deputise for senior leadership as required
  • Participate in an on-call rota to support operations outside standard hours
  • Coordinate system and operational changes in collaboration with technical teams

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Significant experience within power systems, utilities, or similar operational environments
  • Strong understanding of large-scale infrastructure or transmission systems
  • Experience in a control room or real-time operations environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capability
