An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering environment. You will take ownership of key projects, support and mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with production teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop product designs in line with project requirements
- Produce high-quality engineering drawings, models, and technical documentation
- Liaise effectively with production teams to support manufacturing processes
- Generate cut lists, jigs, and utilise nesting software (training provided if required)
- Create user manuals and technical guides for engineers and end users
- Maintain and manage a log of design issues, ensuring effective resolution
- Enhance and improve existing product designs
- Select appropriate materials based on design and customer requirements
- Conduct structural calculations, stress analysis, and tolerance assessments
- Prepare design specifications, reports, and procurement documentation
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and health & safety procedures
- Propose and implement design changes with consideration to cost, feasibility, and timelines
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design, ideally within heavy engineering
