The Senior Engineering Technician is a hand’s on, role reporting to the Senior Production Engineering Manager.
As Senior Engineering Technician you shall be responsible for coordination with Production Operations and efficient day-to-day planning of Engineering works.
They will lead and direct the Production Engineering Technicians on their respective shifts.
As Senior Engineering Technician you shall also be responsible for coaching and mentoring the Emerging Talent cohort (Engineering Apprentices and trainees) to be capable of meeting future engineering needs.
In addition, this role is responsible for the reliable and GMP compliant operation of the Production related equipment on Manufacturing and Packaging machinery and supporting systems within the EKC facility at Hatfield.

- Efficient allocation of Engineering resources to meet daily operational requirements.
- Planning and coordinating of Engineering maintenance activities.
- Mentoring and development of the Emerging Talent cohort.

Requirements of role
- Maintenance, fault finding and repair of all pharmaceutical equipment and controls associated with Oral Solid Dose Production processing and Packaging equipment, such that production priorities are met, and the equipment performs to its optimum capability and maintains GMP compliance.
- Project involvement working with other departments
- Equipment failure reports on CMMS systems. e. g Maximo
- Corrective and Preventative actions and to prevent re-occurrence of faults.
- Multi-disciplined, flexible attitude to team working.
- Application of Good Manufacturing and Engineering Practices in all areas of responsibility
- Develop, follow, review and update procedures, job plans, certificates and standards.
- Setting maintenance regimes for equipment, implementing preventative, run time and reactive maintenance strategies
- Supervision of external contractors and equipment Vendors
- Modification to plant, manufacturing equipment and services.
- Co-ordination and participation in the development of risk assessment and method statements associated with specified work.
- Deviation investigations to define Corrective and Preventive actions and prevent re-occurrence.
- To fully understand and comply with all relevant Site SOP’s, c GMP and safety standards.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Time served apprenticeship and/or relevant engineering qualifications (such as):
- City & Guilds level 3 / Btec Level 3 / ONC/HNC/HND or relevant technical equivalent.
- Demonstrated technical experience in engineering, ideally in a pharmaceutical environment in a senior role.
- Ability to coordinate
- Fault finding skills
- Ability to read engineering drawings. eg P&ID and loop drawings
- Aptitude for neat, clear and concise documentation.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritise and plan own work.
- Computer literacy
- Multi-disciplined.
- Adaptable and flexible to cope with the changing needs of the production.
- A determination to understand breakdown/failure root cause and prevent reoccurrence
