Our client, a successful and expanding manufacturing business, is currently seeking a motivated and detail-focused Purchasing Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual looking to develop their career within a busy procurement function. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the successful candidate will support the day-to-day purchasing of stock while helping ensure efficient supplier coordination and smooth communication across internal departments.

Duties:

  • Assist with the daily purchasing of stock to support manufacturing operations
  • Liaise with stores, accounts and suppliers to ensure timely supply and delivery of goods
  • Maintain and review the Vendor Assessment Scheme to ensure supplier quality standards are met
  • Coordinate the return of any non-conforming or unacceptable goods
  • Prepare weekly reports, carry out data analysis and maintain purchasing databases
  • Manage stock orders and support the wider procurement function with administration duties
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing processes
  • Carry out additional duties as required by management

Criteria:

  • 12 years previous experience in a purchasing, procurement or supply chain support role
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Proficient IT skills with experience using purchasing software and Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and a professional, team-focused approach

Package & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary of £28,000 - £31,000 + Bonus

  • Standard working hours: Monday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Friday: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, 42 hours per week
  • Full-time office-based role, with potential flexibility following successful completion of probation
