Salary: Starting basic salary from £80,000
Location: This role can be based at the Hebburn or Manchester office. This is a flexible role with the option to work remotely for 2-3 days per week.
Reporting to the transmission Engineering Manager in the Electrification and Automation business, the National Grid Type Registration Manager is a critical role within the Electrification and Automation business. They have responsibility for managing the National Grid Protection and Automation portfolio Type Registration for existing and new solutions. They also have responsibility for managing PST10 settings compliance in line with SR107 in the capacity as the Settings manager representative.
You’ll make a difference by:
- Operational Strategy
- Leading the Type registration process for Protection and Automation portfolio supplied to National Grid including Settings Manager responsibilities as defined in SR183 & SR107
- Ensuring Compliance to the latest National grid technical standards (SR/TS/DH/TP)
- Managing the quality of Solutions through its lifecycle
- Managing the Type Registration activities and delivery programs for this
- Presenting development business case to senior stakeholders
- Delivery Teams
- Ensure technological developments are communicated via the Technology Working Group communication strategy to the business
- Ensure that the delivery teams understand the skills and knowledge required to deliver the new solutions being developed via Knowledge Clubs, identified training courses and on the job training.
- Technical Governance for first of a type solution that will be delivered by Engineering teams within the Transmission portfolio.
- Collaboration with the National Grid asset owners within the EA delivery teams on current and new National Grid requirements
- Customers
- Lead technical customer discussions on existing and new solutions covering obsolescence/migration and innovation based on the customer needs.
- Ensure that our customers are informed about the developments of the products and solutions that form the approved solution
- Quality standards in projects
- Ensure quality standards are adhered to in the acquisition and delivery of projects through all stages of the PM requirements including agreed warranty provision.
- Ensure lessons learned are implemented across the pre sales and delivery teams.
- Work closely with the Engineering, Operations, and Delivery teams to improve performance and target reduction of non-conformances to meet or exceed business targets within their teams. Ensure NCR’s & NCC’s are fully captured.
- Any other duties as required to promote a quality and zero harm approach across the business.
You’re excited to build on your existing expertise, including:
- Level 6 qualification in engineering
- Working knowledge of the application of Protection and Automation solutions applied on the UK Transmission Network
- Knowledge of National Grid technical policies and standards
- Good understanding of problem solving and improvement techniques
- Protection and Automation Product and Software knowledge is desirable
- Proficient in Microsoft packages and document control systems
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
