We are seeking an experienced Claims Manager to lead a high-performing First Party Claims function within a growing insurance business.

Reporting into senior leadership, you will oversee the day-to-day performance of multiple claims teams, leading a management team responsible for approximately 30 Claims Handlers. This is a people-focused leadership role, ensuring operational excellence, exceptional customer outcomes and the efficient handling of first-party insurance claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of Claims Team Managers responsible for approximately 30 Claims Handlers.
  • Oversee the end-to-end handling of first-party insurance claims, ensuring excellent customer service and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex, high-value or sensitive claims.
  • Monitor team performance against service levels, quality standards and operational KPIs.
  • Coach, mentor and develop managers to maximise individual and team performance.
  • Ensure claims are handled fairly, consistently and in line with company policies and FCA regulations.
  • Produce regular management information and performance reports for senior leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments including Underwriting, Compliance, Customer Services and Finance.
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities for process improvements across the claims function.
  • Support recruitment, succession planning and ongoing development within the claims teams.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience managing managers within a high-volume insurance claims environment.
  • Strong knowledge of first-party insurance claims handling.
  • Proven experience leading large operational teams within claims or insurance operations.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and people management skills.
  • Strong understanding of FCA regulations and claims governance.
  • Ability to manage performance through KPIs, SLAs and quality measures.
