An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to lead and deliver a range of building structures projects within a consultancy environment. This role combines hands-on design responsibility with full project management ownership, client engagement, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design of projects across a range of building types and materials
- Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and structural models
- Check designs and drawings for accuracy, compliance, and quality, recommending improvements where required
- Manage and coordinate project resources in collaboration with senior engineering leadership
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and other consultants
- Attend and contribute to project and design team meetings
- Deliver projects in line with agreed timescales, budgets, and scope
- Identify project risks and challenges, implementing mitigation measures and escalating issues where necessary
- Prepare monthly project workload updates, fee forecasts, and financial reports
- Monitor and control project costs and support preparation of project invoicing
- Conduct site inspections and liaise with relevant stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with internal quality systems, health & safety requirements, and statutory regulations
- Mentor and support junior engineers, graduates, and technicians
- Contribute to business development and client relationship growth
- Maintain accurate project documentation in line with management systems
Requirements
- Chartered Structural Engineer
- BEng in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience in a similar consultancy environment
- Proven experience designing with all common building materials
- Strong knowledge of current design codes and regulations
- Experience carrying out structural assessments of existing buildings
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Full driving licence or suitable access to transport to meet role requirements
