An opportunity is available for an experienced Marine Engineer to support harbour vessel operations in a safety-critical role. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and compliance of marine vessels and equipment, while also operating as part of vessel crews when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, service, and repair marine engines, plant, and specialist equipment.
- Diagnose faults and respond to breakdowns efficiently.
- Support dry-docking activities and planned maintenance programmes.
- Crew harbour vessels as required, including tug operations and external contracts.
- Ensure all vessels and equipment meet statutory, regulatory, and certification requirements.
- Manage maintenance records, certification, and documentation.
- Work in strict compliance with Safe Systems of Work.
- Contribute to risk assessments and safety reporting.
- Report hazards, incidents, and non-compliance promptly and support corrective actions.
Essential Criteria
- Hold a relevant STCW-recognised engineering Certificate of Competency.
- Minimum 2 years relevant engineering experience.
- Hold a Seafarer Medical Certificate (ENG 1 or ENG 11) or willing to obtain prior to appointment.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety in an industrial or marine environment.
- Physically capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Basic IT skills, including MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and experience with CMMS and online training systems.
- Full driving licence or access to suitable transport.
