Account Executive – Public Sector (Government & Arm’s-Length Bodies)

Location: London, hybrid

As an Account Executive (AE), you will act as a strategic advisor to public sector customers—partnering with them to solve complex challenges, modernise operations, and deliver improved citizen services. You will own key government accounts end‑to‑end, driving growth, cultivating relationships, and ensuring customers realise the full value of the solutions offered.

What You’ll Do

Account & Relationship Ownership

  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for designated government and arm’s‑length body accounts.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, from commercial leaders to technology and policy decision‑makers.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans aligned to customers’ transformation priorities and spending cycles.
  • Deeply understand each organisation’s objectives, budget models, technology landscape, and regulatory context.

Public Sector Demand Generation & Pipeline Management

  • Manage a healthy and predictable pipeline across long and complex public sector sales cycles.
  • Work with marketing, inside sales, bid teams, channel partners and framework specialists to generate demand.
  • Drive opportunities across the full portfolio of cloud and digital solutions, ensuring alignment to customer needs and strategic goals.
  • Maintain accurate account, opportunity and forecasting information in CRM systems.
  • Conduct opportunity and white‑space analysis to uncover expansion areas within government accounts.
  • Position solutions effectively within the competitive public sector supplier ecosystem, including on frameworks and approved procurement routes.
  • Navigate multi‑stakeholder procurement processes, governance, assurance and commercial scrutiny typical of public sector buying.
  • Lead negotiations for large‑scale transactions, subscription renewals, expansions and multi‑year agreements.

Leadership of a Virtual Account Team

  • Orchestrate cross‑functional teams—including technical specialists, bid teams, legal, commercial, delivery, and partner organisations to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Ensure all customer engagements are well prepared, aligned to strategy, and executed with clarity and impact.
  • Maximise value from the organisation’s full support ecosystem.

What You Bring

Experience

  • Proven success in a BDR/SDR/Junior AE type role selling complex cloud, digital or enterprise solutions into the Public Sector.
  • Demonstrated track record managing large accounts, high‑value procurements, and long sales cycles.
  • Experience orchestrating multi‑disciplinary teams and engaging at C‑suite, director and senior civil servant levels.
  • Strong negotiation skills, particularly across framework contracting, subscription renewals, expansions and commercial governance.
  • Experience selling AI solutions, Finance/ERP platforms, Customer Experience technologies, Supply Chain systems or similar enterprise categories is highly advantageous.

  • Comfortable navigating matrix environments, collaborating across multiple teams and disciplines.
  • Fluent in Business English; additional languages are beneficial but not required.
