Service: Children's residential care - Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties

We are recruiting experienced Team Leaders to join established children's residential services supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker or existing Team Leader who is confident leading shifts, supporting colleagues and maintaining consistently high standards of care and safeguarding. You will work closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, helping to provide a safe, structured and nurturing home in which young people can make meaningful progress.

The role:

  • Lead shifts and provide clear direction to the residential care team
  • Support young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs
  • Promote a consistent, trauma-informed and child-centred approach
  • Manage challenging situations calmly and safely
  • Maintain strong safeguarding practice
  • Support care planning, risk assessments and behaviour-support plans
  • Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and handovers
  • Support staff supervision, induction and development
  • Ensure routines, boundaries and agreed placement plans are followed
  • Liaise professionally with families, social workers and other agencies
  • Deputise for senior management when required
  • Participate in the on-call rota where applicable
  • Work shifts including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins

Essential requirements:

  • Recent experience working within a UK children's residential EBD setting
  • Experience as a Team Leader, Senior Residential Support Worker or in a role involving shift leadership
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and children's residential-care practice
  • Experience supporting young people presenting with challenging behaviour
  • The confidence to lead staff and make appropriate decisions during a shift
  • Good written communication and record-keeping skills
  • Flexibility to work a residential shift pattern, including weekends and sleep-ins
  • An existing and unrestricted right to work in the UK

A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or Children and Young People is highly desirable.
