Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in achieving objectives and supporting the care of children and young people.
  • Support and supervise a staff team to meet the needs of young people.
  • Plan shifts, allocate resources, and ensure smooth operations.
  • Lead and manage direct work with children and young people.
  • Chair children’s meetings and facilitate consultations.
  • Promote equal opportunities and challenge discriminatory practices.

Staff Management:

  • Supervise staff, provide support, and manage duties.
  • Plan and oversee staff shifts and duties.
  • Offer 1:1 supervision and contribute to staff development.
  • Support recruitment, induction, and retention of staff.
  • Address staff performance issues and assist with management investigations.

General Duties:

  • Ensure the implementation of care plans and maintain records.
  • Assist with training and development for staff.
  • Manage resources, including finances and company vehicles.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and compliance with procedures.
  • Deputize for the Registered Manager when needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Secondary education with good literacy and numeracy.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
  • Experience in supervising staff and working with young people with challenging behaviour.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and care standards.
  • Ability to manage teams, communicate effectively, and motivate staff.

Desirable:

  • Management or supervisory qualifications.
  • Driving license and experience providing on-call support.
