Interim Senior Financial Accountant

We are recruiting an experienced Interim Senior Financial Accountant to join a leading cultural and charitable organisation for an initial 9-month maternity cover
This role will support the finance function through a key reporting period, taking responsibility for statutory reporting, audit management, technical accounting matters and helping the organisation prepare for upcoming Charity SORP changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of statutory accounts and annual financial statements.
- Manage the year-end audit process and relationships with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with Charity SORP, FRS102 and relevant accounting standards.
- Provide technical accounting advice across the organisation.
- Support planning and implementation of forthcoming Charity SORP developments.
- Review and strengthen financial controls, reconciliation processes and reporting frameworks.
- Assist with governance and compliance reporting.
- Partner with stakeholders across finance and the wider business.
About You
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified accountant.
- Strong technical financial accounting and reporting experience.
- Experience within a museum, gallery, heritage, arts, education, charity or not-for-profit organisation would be highly desirable.
- Candidates making a move from audit are also encouraged to apply, particularly where they have significant charity or not-for-profit client exposure.
- Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing external audits.
- Strong understanding of Charity SORP and financial reporting requirements.
- Able to hit the ground running and operate effectively in an interim capacity.
