We are supporting a major cloud transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Google Cloud Architect to join a large-scale migration project. This is a hands-on architecture role where you'll play a key part in the migration of enterprise infrastructure and applications into Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We're specifically looking for someone with proven delivery experience rather than purely architectural or theoretical knowledge.

The successful candidate will work across the design, implementation, and migration of cloud infrastructure, helping to build and optimise secure, scalable, and resilient GCP environments.

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting a large-scale Google Cloud migration programme, working closely with infrastructure, engineering, and project teams to design and deliver cloud solutions across multiple workstreams. This role requires someone who has previously delivered cloud migration projects and is comfortable getting involved in both architecture and technical implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Google Cloud infrastructure solutions as part of a large-scale migration programme.
  • Support the build and deployment of Landing Zones and cloud foundations within GCP.
  • Design and deliver solutions across Google Compute Engine (GCE), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), and Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE).
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform.
  • Support source control and deployment workflows using GitHub.
  • Design and implement networking solutions within GCP environments.
  • Ensure security, scalability, resilience, and operational best practices are embedded throughout the migration.
  • Support migration weekends, cutovers, and hypercare activities where required.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, and business stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience delivering Google Cloud migration projects.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    • Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
    • Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE)
    • Google Compute Engine (GCE)
    • GCP Native Monitoring
    • GCP Networking
  • Strong Terraform experience and Infrastructure as Code expertise.
  • Experience using GitHub for source control and deployment management.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, security, and operational best practices.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale migration programmes.

Desirable Experience

  • Google Professional Cloud Architect certification.
  • Experience building enterprise Landing Zones within GCP.
  • Experience working within highly regulated or large enterprise environments.
  • Exposure to hybrid cloud and VMware migration projects.
