We’re supporting a global consultancy business delivering technology and digital solutions into the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector, and are looking for an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to take ownership of their DevOps capability.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on improving engineering velocity, scalability, reliability and security across cloud infrastructure and software delivery. You’ll lead DevOps strategy and best practice whilst remaining technically involved in Azure infrastructure, Kubernetes environments and CI/CD automation.
You’ll work closely with engineering, product and wider business teams to help drive a strong DevOps and shift-left culture across the organisation.
Responsibilities- Own and drive the DevOps vision, standards and engineering best practices
- Lead the design and optimisation of scalable, secure and reliable cloud infrastructure
- Build, improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple applications and services
- Design, deploy and support Azure-based infrastructure environments
- Champion infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code practices
- Work closely with engineering and product teams to align DevOps initiatives with wider business goals
- Promote a strong DevOps and shift-left engineering culture
- Mentor and support engineers across the wider technical function
- Improve observability, reliability and operational performance across platforms
- Facilitate collaboration and communication across technical teams
- 6+ years’ experience within DevOps, Cloud or Platform Engineering environments
- Previous technical leadership or team lead experience
- Strong hands-on Azure experience including: AKS, App Services, Networking, Storage, Key Vault, Virtual Machines
- Strong Kubernetes experience within production environments
- Strong Terraform and Helm experience
- Strong CI/CD experience, ideally using Azure DevOps
- Scripting or development capability in at least one language such as: Golang, Python, PowerShell, Bash
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking and security
- Experience working within cross-functional engineering teams
- Experience with observability and monitoring platforms
- Cloudflare / Edge / WAF experience
- Exposure to AI / LLM technologies
