Exciting Opportunity in Early-Stage Drug Discovery - Research Associate – Discovery Cambridge (On-site, 5 days/week)

12-month contract

Day rate: Β£211–£238

We are partnering with a leading global pharmaceutical organisation to recruit a Research Associate within their Discovery, Frontier Biology team in Cambridge. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge oncology drug discovery, working within a highly collaborative and innovative scientific environment.

The Role

As a Research Associate, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality bench-based research and in vitro assays, helping advance early-stage discovery programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and execute laboratory experiments to support discovery projects
  • Design, develop, and conduct a range of in vitro assays
  • Analyse experimental data, perform statistical analysis, and communicate findings effectively
  • Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records and documentation
  • Present data at internal meetings and contribute to team discussions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including biology and chemistry functions
  • Ensure strict adherence to laboratory and data integrity standards

About You

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in cell culture and tissue handling techniques
  • Knowledge of oncology drug discovery and molecular biology (DNA, RNA, protein techniques)
  • Proven ability to develop and execute in vitro assays
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Education

  • Degree (BSc, MSc, or PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Ideally 2+ years of industry lab experience

Working Environment

  • Fully on-site role in Cambridge (5 days per week)
  • Collaborative team with strong cross-functional engagement
