About the Role
We are seeking an experienced customs and trade compliance professional to join a global leader in healthcare innovation. This role will lead a small UK-based team, overseeing all import/export activities for UK operations and ensuring full compliance with HMRC and international trade regulations.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape processes, mentor a skilled team, and work closely with senior stakeholders across the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily customs operations across UK affiliates, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
- Lead and develop a team of four, providing guidance, training, and performance support.
- Manage import/export documentation and clearance processes.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate customs and trade compliance risks.
- Drive process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Deliver customs training to internal teams.
- Support classification, country of origin reviews, and special customs procedures.
- Monitor broker performance against SLAs and KPIs.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong understanding of UK customs regulations and international trade laws.
- Leadership experience within a customs, trade compliance, or supply chain function.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, SAGE, AS400).
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a process improvement mindset.
- Relevant customs/trade compliance certifications are a plus.
