My client is a dedicated company of the ASEE Group, formed to deliver Technology expertise and high-end solutions to Data Centre Construction Projects and high-spec ICT deployments throughout Europe.
The company was created through discussions with clients, addressing their need for better competition, quality, and transparency in the marketplace for key services within hyperscale deployments, mini clusters, or upgrades on existing sites.
Due to continuous growth, we are looking to hire an ICT Estimator/Designer to join the team permanently. Please note this is a remote position. We have vacancies in Ireland, the UK, and the Netherlands.
Key Responsibilities:
- The primary responsibility is to develop accurate and timely estimates, and submit competitive bids and proposals for the company’s clients.
- Analyse and interpret detailed client requests, drawings, and specifications to determine and estimate truly value-engineered solutions or alternatives to project requirements.
- Attend pre- and post-tender bid meetings with clients and their representatives.
- Assist and support the business to meet their financial targets.
- Help identify and develop potential new opportunities for work.
- Help identify new suppliers and subcontractors to improve performance and profit.
- Manage the estimating team to ensure tenders are accurately completed in accordance with client and company requirements.
- Ensure all weekly and monthly reports are produced.
- Offer support, guidance, and mentoring to the Sales team where necessary.
- Manage the team’s workload to ensure sufficient time is allocated for accurate bids.
- Effectively manage the pipeline to identify and win new contracts.
- Review and write all PQQ submissions to the respective clients.
- Manage all tender portals from various clients.
- Write clear, concise, and articulate tender proposals and clarifications.
- Manage the submission of tenders, attending internal and external tender meetings with clients or internal operations.
- Ensure the completion of all relevant bid documentation, including presentations for bid proposals.
- Liaise with the Commercial Director to ensure tenders reflect our business objectives and provide feedback on bid outcomes.
- Ensure work processes and models are documented, validated, and stored within a clear directory structure with complete version history.
- Identify areas for system and operational improvements within the team; implement and measure improvements.
- Review existing pricing agreements to identify opportunities for performance enhancement.
- Build and maintain client/stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications and Training Required:
- You are currently working as an estimator or have started out in a role such as surveying assistant.
- BTEC in Building Studies, Building Engineering, Building Management, or a HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering.
- RCDD, CDCDP, or extensive data centre ICT experience is preferable.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., ACostE) may be beneficial.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in cost estimating for infrastructure, preferably in a managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex technical documents and drawings.
- Proficiency in cost estimating software and tools.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
ICT Designer/Estimator Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the estimating team, providing guidance, coaching, and training.
- Oversee the entire estimating process, including review of project requirements, drawings, and specifications.
- Prepare and present detailed estimates, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
- Conduct cost analysis and risk assessments to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor bids, negotiate pricing, and establish relationships with reliable subcontractors and suppliers.
- Collaborate with procurement to analyze vendor proposals and contracts.
